ARESTIN® kills the red complex bacteria (RCB) most closely associated with periodontal disease. RCB are:

  • P gingivalis
  • T denticola
  • T forsythia

In a recent study of 127 patients with moderate-to-severe periodontitis and at least 5 teeth with ≥5mm pocket depths, ARESTIN® plus scaling and root planing (SRP) significantly reduced the quantity (P=0.002) and proportions (P=0.0005) of RCB compared with SRP alone.

ARESTIN® + SRP lowered RCB proportions to the level associated with a healthier environment.

Unlike SRP alone, ARESTIN® plus SRP reduced bacteria even 30 days after treatment.
